An evaluation is not a race to the profit target. It is a test of whether you can make money without breaking two limits: the daily loss and the maximum loss. Traders who treat it as a risk exercise pass far more often.
Start from the limits, not the target
On a $10,000 Chronos account the daily loss is $300 and the maximum loss is $500. Work backwards: if you never risk more than 0.5% ($50) per trade, you can lose six trades in a row in one day and still be inside the daily limit.
Size every trade the same way
- Decide your risk per trade (0.25–1% of the starting balance).
- Place the stop loss where the idea is wrong, not where the money runs out.
- Calculate the lot size from the distance to the stop.
- Never widen a stop to avoid a loss.
Use the minimum days in your favour
You must trade at least 4 days, and there is no time limit. That removes the pressure to rush. A trader who makes 1% a day for 8 days passes Phase 1 of the 2-Step comfortably.
Have a daily stop
Set your own daily stop at half the official limit. On a $10,000 account, stop trading for the day after losing $150. The official $300 limit then becomes a safety net you never touch.
Close trades to lock in the target
The target counts closed profit. When you are close to it, reduce size, close winners and avoid giving back profit just before passing.
