The daily loss limit: how it is measured

20 September 2026

← Back to Blog

The daily loss limit protects you from one bad day ending your evaluation. On Chronos it is a fixed amount: 3% of the starting balance.

The numbers

  • $5,000 account: $150 per day
  • $10,000 account: $300 per day
  • $25,000 account: $750 per day
  • $50,000 account: $1,500 per day
  • $100,000 account: $3,000 per day

What counts

Closed losses and floating losses on open positions, plus commissions and swaps. Equity may not fall more than the daily amount below your balance at 00:00 GMT.

Positions held overnight

If you hold a trade past 00:00 GMT, the new day starts from your balance at that moment. The floating loss of the open trade counts against the new day.

A simple habit

Write your daily floor down at the start of each session. If equity gets within one trade’s risk of it, stop for the day.

See every limit in the evaluation rules or browse the FAQ.
